Andrew Gorton appointed GM

I’m pleased to announce that Andy Gorton has been promoted to the position of General Manager, Rockwood South Hill.  As GM, Andy will oversee all operations of the entire campus including dining services, healthcare and environmental services.  Andy will continue to report to me. Andy’s current position of Executive Director of Resident Services is being eliminated.  A position similar to the South Hill GM position currently exists at Rockwood at Whitworth.  It currently bears the title “Executive Director” but it is being renamed General Manager, Rockwood at Whitworth. Rick Milsow, the current Executive Director, is retiring this November.  We have commenced our search for his replacement to serve as that campus’s General Manager.

As Rockwood Retirement Communities grows, it is essential that our organizational structure evolve so that it is as effective as possible.  The creation of the GM position will enhance our ability to provide Rockwood with the leadership needed each and every day to ensure our continued success.

Andy has worked for Rockwood since 2012.  He has done an exceptional job of learning the senior living business over the past 8 years and how to best apply his 25+ years of prior GM level leadership experience at golf and country clubs.  During his time at Rockwood, Andy has earned the trust and confidence of his co-workers, residents, family members, and the Rockwood Board of Directors.  My office will continue to be on the South Hill campus, and you can rest assured that I will still have a high level of interest and knowledge about what is happening on the campus.  However, this change will make lines of authority and responsibility clearer and allow us to better direct organizational resources to where they are needed.  Next time you see Andy, please extend your congratulations to him for his promotion and new role!
