Provisions Distributor (South Hill Campus)

Rockwood South Hill is looking for a dependable individual who enjoys working as part of a team to join our Food Services Department as a Provisions Distributor. We are seeking to fill a newly created position that is designed to set you up for a long-term and rewarding kitchen career. This position ensures that our Health Center areas are well stocked with food, beverages and other supplies at all times.

Pay Range: $17.50 – $18.00 per hour

Shift Type: Full-time (11:30am to 8:00pm)

Responsibilities:

  • Stock food, beverages and supplies in the Health Center areas
  • Receive and organize delivery orders
  • Clean kitchen equipment
  • Check expiration dates on food items
  • Retrieve dish carts from the Health Center after meals
  • Provide customer service to residents

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current Washington food handler card
  • M.A.S.T. permit
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills in English
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Regularly required to lift and/or move items up to 30 pounds

Dishwasher

Rockwood Retirement Communities is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Part-time Dishwasher to join our team in our Whitworth Campus. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of our kitchen and dining areas. This position is essential to our food service operations, ensuring that all dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment are cleaned efficiently and effectively. Responsibilities

  • Operate the industrial dishwasher
  • Wash and put away dishes from all dining rooms, ensuring items are clean and sanitary
  • The position also delivers and retrieves food carts and other items
  • Empty and clean all trash receptacles
  • Follow sanitation policies at all times
  • Provide assistance to prep cook and other kitchen staff as needed, especially during peak times
  • Perform opening, closing, and side work

Required Skills and Experience

  • Obtain and hold state-required Food Handlers Card
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Continuous bending, reaching, twisting, and use of hands and arms

Cook

Rockwood at Whitworth is looking for an experienced Full-Time Cook to join our Food Service department. This position is responsible for providing a pleasurable dining experience for our residents, their families, and our team members by preparing high-quality food.

Pay Range: $20.66 – $23 per hour

Shift Types: Fri-Tues, 11am – 7:30 pm

Responsibilities

  • Cooks food in quantities according to the menu and number of persons to be served.
  • Plans menu, taking advantage of foods in season and local availability.
  • May serve meals.
  • Prepare various foods depending on menu created by dietitians, for each meal of the day.
  • Operate kitchen equipment in preparation for meals.
  • Required to clean work surfaces following shift: sweep floors, wipe down counter space, cover and store unused foods.
  • Able to create meals that are appropriate for the elderly and in large quantities.
  • Able to work at a constant pace to ensure the food is ready for each meal of the day.

Required Skills and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Current Washington State food handlers permit
  • 2-3 years food service or restaurant experience required
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
  • Comfortable standing, stopping, squatting, twisting, and moving frequently
  • Ability to pass a food service sanitation course
  • Familiarity with general kitchen equipment and appliances

  • Prepare or serve hot or cold beverages, such as coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees, or teas
  • Check temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, or heating equipment to ensure the proper functioning
  • Take and process guests’ orders in a timely fashion
  • Able to maintain a clean and orderly station
  • Memorize menus and modifiers for on-demand recitation
  • Up-sell desserts and drinks as appropriate for individual guests and parties
  • Manage large groups quickly and efficiently through attentive service and precise order taking
  • Order, receive, or stock supplies or retail products
  • Serve prepared foods, such as muffins, biscotti, or bagels

Required Skills and Experience

  • 1+ year wait staff/serving experience and/or barista experience
  • Excellent customer service
  • Current Washington State Food Handler permit
  • MAST training within 60 days of employment
