Spokane, WASH. – The Rockwood Residents’ Foundation, a local 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that exists solely to serve Rockwood Retirement Communities, has received its first ever million-dollar donation for its South Hill campus.

The Rockwood Residents’ Foundation has several funds to support Rockwood Retirement Communities, and this generous donation will touch all of them. Eighty-five percent of the donation will go to the Foundation’s Residents’ Assistance Endowment Fund, which assists residents who outlive their finances through no fault of their own. Through this fund the Rockwood Residents Foundation and Rockwood Retirement Communities have ensured that no resident ever need leave their Rockwood home due to an inability to pay.

More than $50,000 of the donation will support Rockwood employees who are furthering their career with an educational scholarship, or to an employee who needs emergency financial assistance because they are experiencing unexpected monetary struggles.

Rockwood Retirement Communities takes a holistic approach to all things related to wellness and has a program called “LiveWell.” The remainder of the donation will reach everyone who participates in Rockwood’s

LiveWell program, the organization’s wellness initiative both employees and residents. It will also support Rockwood’s holistic approach to LiveWell through fitness.

“This is the largest donation the Rockwood Residents’ Foundation has ever received, and we couldn’t be more excited about the positive impact it will have on our community,” said Marianne McCormack, Director of Development.
