Alan Curryer, President and CEO of Rockwood Retirement Communities Wins LeadingAge Washington’s Award of Honor

Community members, employees, volunteers and residents are presented with awards at our 64th Annual Conference at the Semiahmoo Resort in Blaine, WA.

DUPONT, WA – LeadingAge Washington’s Awards and Recognition Program is all about people who make a difference every day in the lives of those they serve. It’s about people who put quality first, deliver excellence, and inspire others to do the same. The LeadingAge Awards Program recognizes those individuals and organizations that have made an outstanding contribution in the fields of aging, health care, housing and community-based services. It is a way of saying thank you, to those who do more than what is merely expected of them, who do the right things for the right reasons.

Our very special Award of Honor category serves to highlight and celebrate a truly accomplished and visionary individual whose contributions to our industry mission and future-- in addition to long-standing support of those currently served-- go well beyond average into a universe all their own.

We are pleased to announce that our 2015 Award of Honor is Alan Curryer of Rockwood Communities. Alan, Chief Executive Officer and President, has served Rockwood Retirement Communities for 24 years. He began working as Chief Financial Officer and served in that capacity from 1990 to 2004, when he became CEO and President, serving for the last 11 years. His 25th year of employment with Rockwood Retirement Communities will be in November of 2015.

Since becoming President of Rockwood Retirement Communities, his professional growth and accomplishments have been astronomic. Alan’s imaginative leadership, strategic vision, coordination and dedication have resulted in countless noteworthy accomplishments.

Alan brought deep financial background and visionary strength to his role as President and CEO of Rockwood. Early in his presidency, he developed a strong and involved Board of Trustees and supportive, highly skilled staff. With his steady leadership, Rockwood persevered through many challenges to continue as a leader in contemporary senior living.
